On September 4, 2026, the EPA and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers proposed a rule that would dramatically weaken the Clean Water Act. If finalized, the new proposal would eliminate protections for nearly all streams and wetlands that flow seasonally or with intermittent breaks in surface flow.

Stripping these vital safeguards will have devastating consequences for local water quality, wildlife habitat and the communities that rely on clean water.
